Keeping your jewelry shiny between cleanings (originally posted 23 October 2017)
Recently a customer was describing her love/hate relationship with sterling silver jewelry: while she loves the look she has a hard time keeping her jewelry clean. She knew that humidity hastens the tarnishing process of any metal and asked for suggestions.
I mentioned that one of the best things you can do for your jewelry in between cleanings is to keep it in a dry place. Most of us have purchased items that come with a packet of desiccant in the bottom. I never throw these away! These are great for your jewelry as the desiccant will absorb moisture from the air around it.
If the bag around the desiccant breaks, carefully dispose of it. And of course you must always be sure to keep these out of the reach of children and pets. Used carefully, they can help your jewelry stay shiny.
