A late summer visitor
Every summer, I look forward to a particular seasonal visitor in the garden. The Hummingbird Hawk-Moth usually appears when the Dwarf Lilac bushes come into bloom in late June/early July. This year, we had some unusually cool and wet weather, so if they foraged the lilacs I did not see them.
Fast forward to nearly the end of August, I'm sitting on my front porch near dusk, sipping tea, when I hear a familiar sound. I glanced down to where two large pots of petunias were sitting and spotted my visitor! Have a watch! I had never seen one so close to dark. The sun had already dropped below the horizon, but here it was.
